The Fine Arts Department presents an exhibition of work by Jacob Riddle, Assistant Professor, Career Track, in Digital Technology and Culture.

Jacob Riddle is an interdisciplinary artist, educator, and curator. Jacob’s work deals with ideas surrounding labor, class, automation, value, capital, physicality, virtuality, and the natural world. Jacob has exhibited his work and been Artist in Residence nationally and internationally including Flaggfabrikken, Bergen, Norway; Arteles, Haukijärvi, Finland; Rodbianco, Oslo, Norway; École Supérieure d’Art d’Avignon, Avignon, France; Tele Vision, Sydney Australia; Dom Funkcjonalny, Warsaw, Poland; Contemporary Art Center, Cincinnati, Ohio, Babylon Contemporary, Kansas City, Missouri.. ‘Body of Water’ Opening Reception

Exhibition: Body of Water – Dennis DeHart & Sarah Schorr
In this cross-sea collaboration, two artists visually explore their own physicality in water. Through individual approaches that run in dialogue between the united states and Denmark, this exhibition follows the body in water. Through installing work to emphasize the conversation between the two installation spaces, Sarah Schorr and Dennis DeHart chart their experience with the confines and expanses of the body above and underwater.

Join us in WSU Fine Arts Gallery 2 for an exhibition organized by our 2019 artist-in-residence, Jeffry Mitchell.

Mitchell lives and works in Seattle and has been an Artist in Residence at the Archie Bray Foundation, the Vermont Studio Center, the MacDowell Colony, Zentrum für Keramik, a guest lecturer and critic at Harvard University and a recipient of the Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters and Sculptors Award, the Neddy Artist Fellowship Award and the Contemporary Northwest Art Award.

A pop-up group exhibition of provisional art works created at Kamiak Butte and the Palouse 

 

For this show, MFA graduate students enrolled in FA 555 Critical Practices go to Kamiak Butte with minimal materials. Artists are asked to respond to the environment in an intuitive manner for approximately three hours, working mostly in groups. In the following days, artists edit and organize their ideas for installation. The result is a quirky and quick tribute to the Butte and surrounding landscape.
