Description/Responsibilities :

Seeking artist working in digital media with active interest in developing connections across the curriculum with other fine arts faculty. Teach four courses annually, plus tutorial hours across fine arts disciplines with MFA students. Serve as digital media area coordinator. Other responsibilities include undergraduate advising and service to the department and university.

Qualifications:

MFA or related terminal degree at time of application and a dedicated artistic practice in which digital media are integral, required. Demonstrated ability to teach digital media or related courses at the university level, evidence of building a professional practice that includes strong exhibition record, knowledge of the practice and theory related to digital media, and a dedicated cross-disciplinary approach to art practice preferred. Interest in teaching in other fine arts areas a plus.

Location:

Washington State University is a land-grant, Carnegie I doctoral/research extensive institution with an enrollment of 19,000 at the Pullman campus, located 75 miles south of Spokane in an agricultural and university community of 26,000 population.

General Facilities:

The department is located in its own Fine Arts Center, a large facility containing three gallery exhibition spaces, including the Museum of Art, and graduate and undergraduate studios. As part of the College of Liberal Arts, the department plays a significant role in the liberal arts education of WSU students and is an artistic and cultural center for faculty, students and community. The department offers programs leading to the B.A. (Studio and Art History options), B.F.A., and M.F.A. degrees, and course work in art history, ceramics, digital media, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. Departmental facilities include two computer labs with 32 Macintosh workstations, one of them recently outfitted with G5 Dual 2 Ghz computers, along with a printing lab and an inventory of digital and analog equipment for us with student projects. The department in Pullman has a full-time faculty of twelve artists and scholars, six part-time adjunct faculty, an instructional technician for sculpture/ceramics, and a half-time technician for the two computer labs.

Send letter of application, teaching philosophy, CV, list of three references (letters upon request), 20 examples of personal work and 15 of student work on CD or DVD. CD should be Macintosh formatted, with JPEG's not exceeding 1024x768 pixels. PowerPoint presentations acceptable. Application review begins January 4, 2008.
